Get UnStuck – Find Your Calling

About Allan Bacon

Allan Bacon believes that you have a calling in life – a unique purpose that uses your natural born talents and interests.  His work focuses on helping you use your own instincts to rediscover this purpose while having a ton of fun in the process.  And without having to quit your day job.

Allan is an author and speaker and publishes the Avocationist.com blog.

Through his own career, Allan has discovered that most of what we’ve learned in our jobs is based on an out-dated model of work that focuses on the needs of companies and others, but ignores the power that comes from a motivated, passionate employee.

And traditional career planning has failed to provide much more than rudimentary tools that can distract you from work that could be much more fulfilling.

None of these approaches provides the most critical element of success and satisfaction: a clear, confident sense of your inner passion.

He has personally interviewed hundreds of professionals about their work and lives to uncover how meaningful career change happens. And, he has experimented with career changes large and small. From these experiences, Allan shares his wisdom through stories of his own experience and those of others.

Working with companies large and small, including roles in management, sales, marketing and R&D with Litton Systems (now Northop Grumman) and Bank of America, Allan has lived what he talks about.

Want more freedom and control in your career? Want to find your way past “stuck” and moving towards something you care about? Want more confidence to make a move out of where you’ve been in your career? Spend some time with Allan and remember how to have fun and connect with your inner kid.

Allan Bacon has a PhD  and MA in physics from Duke University and a BS from Rhodes College. He lives in Charlotte NC with his wife, daughters and a crazy wire fox terrier.
